The Los Angeles Women’s Theatre Festival’s next HOT OFF THE PRESS new solo works series will take place virtually on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. PT on ZOOM.
This special HOT OFF THE PRESS will celebrate JUNETEENTH, an African American holiday commemorating June 19, 1865, the date Texas, the last state in the Union, was forced to free its enslaved. This was two years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863, also the same year the 13th Amendment abolished slavery throughout the United States.
Juneteenth emphasizes freedom, education, achievement, reflection, self-assessment and cultural empowerment. This year’s HOT OFF THE PRESS is once again co-hosted by Juliette Jeffers (Chicago Med) and Jessica Lynn Johnson (Soaring Solo, LLC).
