Soaring Solo’s SOLO LAB, workshops FOR Solo Artists BY Solo Artists. This webinar focuses on telling a Kick-Ass 5 Minute Moth Style Story with Multiple Moth Story Slam Winner, Michael-David Ker.
What is this webinar about?
Have you ever wanted to tell a Story at the MOTH? It’s thrilling and a whole lotta fun, but also can be slightly nerve racking because you are judged, literally, there are 3 sets of Judges who rate your story on a 1–10-point system. Oftentimes the audience is 100 people and you have only five minutes to tell your story. (You get docked points if you go over 6 minutes). Five minutes may not seem like a lot of time to tell a full story, but there are tools/tricks to making every minute count. That’s what we’ll explore in this 90 minute workshop.
How to hook the audience/Judges from your opening line, how to choose strong stakes for your story’s setup that will give you a powerful payoff at the end of your story and hot to edit it all down to 5-minutes.
Come learn from someone who has won prizes for my stories at The Moth, Story Smash contest in LA and more, where I had only 5 minutes to tell a powerful story. We’ll also explore how you can focus on one story from your Solo Show that fits with the Moth’s monthly theme. It’ll be fun and hopefully you’ll feel ready to jump into a MOTH after this!
