Barbara Brownell, talented member of the Soaring Solo community, is an Official Selection of the 2026 LA Women’s Theatre Festival with her one person show “FINDING MY LIGHT”. Barbara will join this festival in the “MOTHERS, MUSIC, AND MEN” program.

 This year’s LAWTF program is entitled: “THE STRENGTH WE CARRY” and presents 6 programs from March 26-29, 2026. Performers will include actors, dancers, vocalists, and storytellers.

LAWTF has been empowering voices of solo female performers for 33 Years.

Festivities begin on Thursday, March 26, 2026 with our Champagne GALA and Awards Ceremony that honors powerful female voices in theatre.

“Finding My Light” follows a story of when The lights of Broadway and Hollywood weren’t bright enough to reveal the family secret hiding in plain sight.

BARBARA BROWNELL has appeared on Broadway in Play It Again, Sam  and The Ballad of Johnny Pot . Favorite film credits include Going Home, Ants!, The Master and most recently Cat.  She has played everything from a hooker (Ironsides) to a nun (Our House). Other  TV credits:  Mary Tyler Moore, Malcolm in the Middle, L. A. Law, Bob Newhart, Kojak, Tonight Show, Night court (3), Big Love, Monk, Mad Men and Grey’s Anatomy.  She has had recurring roles on Webster (Barbie) and M*A*S*H (Lt. Jones ). Broadway World nominated her for performer of the decade, best director, best solo show and named her Best Leading Actress, Los Angeles, 2019. Her solo show Finding My light won the Legend Award at Solofest 2025. But what made her a star with her grandkids was being featured in the music video “Old Town Road” with Lil Nas X.
